Studio
"Data Studio overview" IBM Data Studio is a comprehensive suite of data
management tools that will simplify the design, development, deployment and
management of your enterprise data, databases and database applications.
With IBM Data Studio you can speed application design, development, and
deployment while increasing data access efficiency and performance. This
presentation we will discuss all the major components of Data Studio
followed by demo of some of them.
Biography:
George Lapis is a technical manager at IBM's Silicon Valley Lab.He has
worked in database software for more than 30 years. He was a member of R*
and Starburst research projects at IBM's Almaden Research Center in San
Jose, California. He also was a member of the compiler development team for
several releases of DB2 Universal Database. His expertise is mostly in
compiler technology and implementation. For the last several years he has
lead the compiler development team at IBM's Silicon Valley Lab in San Jose,
California working on SQL, XML, and XQuery for DB2 Universal Database. Most
recently he is working in Data Studio enablement area.

for z/OS Utilities Update
This talk will focus largely upon
the significant enhancements provided by DB2 utilities in DB2 9 for z/OS. In
addition, we will cover some recent changes that are provided in the
maintenance stream for both V8 and V9, and that are therefore of immediate
importance to anyone running either version. Finally, we will take a quick
look at where we may be heading in future. This talk is for anyone wishing
to fully exploit utilities' capabilities today and who wishes to plan for
what's coming next.
Presentation: DB2 for
z/OS Utilities Best Practices
This presentation reviews a set
of performance, availability, and usability best practices when using the
utility suite of DB2 V8 and DB2 9 for z/OS Utilities. We will cover the most
significant keyword specifications that should be specified for utilities,
uncover the features hidden in the SORTNUM elimination Apar, discuss the
value of Real-Time Statistics, and touch on how often to run REORG and
RUNSTATS. Upon completion of this session, the attendee, whose skill level
may range from low to high, will be able to apply recommendations in their
shop to exploit the best features when running utilities.
Biography:
Craig is a Senior Software Engineer in the DB2 for z/OS Utilities
development group with twenty years of experience working on DB2 at the
Silicon Valley Lab. He has worked on numerous enhancements within the areas
of utilities and availability, and he was the project lead for the Online
REORG and Online Schema Evolution enhancements.

Biography:
Lal Jawahar has 13 years of experience as DB2 DBA, performance engineer
and Enterprise application solution architect. He is certified DB2 DBA.
Currently, he is working at NetApp as manager IBM alliance engineering. He
was deeply involved in storage Snapshot integration with IBM DB2. He has
co-authored number of DB2 technical papers, Red-books and Red papers. He
holds MS degree in computer science and currently pursuing MBA from Kenan-Flagler
